The Ancient Mindset for Well-Being
Ancient traditions have a very different viewpoint on what constitutes health and well-being than does modern medicine.
Rather than viewing the body as a purely mechanical instrument, and taking a disease-and-cure approach to ailments, many ancient traditions aim to solve disease by bringing forth harmony in the full body-mind-soul of a person.
While the ancient and modern approaches are indeed complementary in many ways, the holistic-energetic approach of many pre-modern modalities is quite different in its mindset.
For example: Kayakalpa views the human being as a microcosm of the world, and once an individual's unique nature and imbalance is determined, it utilizes substances from the macrocosm to bring the individual back into harmony and balance. At Kayakalpa, if a person is suffering from an excess of the Air Element, we use substances and therapies that are calming and grounding in their affect. We take the physical, elemental, mental and spiritual well-being into account when determining imbalances and their corresponding treatments.
We can find shared connections of this holistic mindset between many ancient traditions around the world. We see it in Chinese Medicine, as it considers the energetic quality of the pulse, and seeks to bring it into full-flowing harmony. We see it in diverse animist and shamanic traditions of Central and South America in their understanding of the human being and their relation to the universe. This ancient knowledge of bringing forth wholeness is a part of our rich human patrimony, one that holds so much practical wisdom for modern life.
At Kayakalpa, we are faithful in our practice of an ancient methodology. We utilize diverse treatments, honed-in over centuries, designed to release dormant vital energy and expand consciousness. The ancient mindset, in practice, leads to dramatic transformation in those who experience it.
